Left back Bridge was Mark Hughes' first signing of the January 2009 transfer window from Chelsea.
An England international with more than 30 caps, Bridge made his Three Lions debut in February 2002 against Holland and he has one international goal to his name, ironically coming at the City of Manchester Stadium during the 6-1 thrashing of Iceland in 2004.
Bridge began his career on the south coast at Southampton and made his full Premier League debut against Charlton Athletic in August 1998, before going on to make 174 appearances for the Saints.
His final game was the 2003 FA Cup Final defeat to Arsenal and after five years at the south coast club he made the switch to Chelsea for £7million with Graeme Le Saux heading the other way as part of the deal.
 After two seasons at Stamford Bridge, Wayne moved on loan to Fulham where he impressed and made it into the England squad for the 2006 World Cup.
The defender’s opportunities at Chelsea were limited by Ashley Cole's arrival from Arsenal and he left to join City where he immediately became first choice, making his debut against Wigan on January 17.
Despite two spells when he was sidelined by injury, Wayne enjoyed a good first full season and looked a certainty for the World Cup squad but declined to be selected for personal reasons.
The arrival of Aleksander Kolarov in the summer of 2010 saw fierce competition for the left-back berth, and with Wayne wanting more regular football he departed for Upton Park on loan in January 2011.
